A native of the Bay Area, Dr. Matthew Lowe returns to his hometown after gaining invaluable experience treating a diverse range of patients on the East Coast. In Boston, he practiced at one of the premier healthcare clinics geared towards runners and soft-tissue injuries. He treated athletes at many running events such as the Tracksmith Twilight 5K, the New Balance Indoor Track National Championship, and “Pre-Covery” at the Boston Marathon. He loved the challenge and reward of getting to work with collegiate, professional, and Olympic-level athletes but also gained a lot of fulfillment helping those just picking up the sport and training for their first races. It’s there where he began his own running journey driven by his desire to empathize with his running patients and gain firsthand insight into their experiences throughout the training process. He has successfully completed two half marathons and one full and is excited for future races to come.
He also worked in suburban Bridgewater, New Jersey where he provided evidence-based care to athletes from the many high schools and their families. After observing how patients’ experience with pain and injury is so unique, Dr. Matt saw the importance of treating each person as an individual rather than just going by a diagnosis. Whether patients are high-level competitive athletes or weekend warriors, Dr. Matt believes that everyone should have access to the same quality care to alleviate pain, optimize function, and limit future injuries so that they can keep doing the things they love.
Dr. Matt graduated Cum Laude from Life Chiropractic College West and obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis on Movement Science at San Jose State University. He is proud to be full-body certified in Active Release Technique, the gold-standard in soft tissue care which he utilizes in the majority of his treatments. He is also Medical 2 certified with Titleist Performance Institute, allowing him to analyze each player’s swing to limit injury, while maximizing efficiency and power. He has additional certifications with RunDNA Gait Analysis Systems, Functional Movement Systems, RockTape, and Integrative Dry Needling (an accepted practice in Massachusetts but not yet approved in California).
While an avid basketball fan, Dr. Matt grew up with a background in a multitude of sports which led to an appreciation of different forms of movement and exercise. He loves challenging himself with new activities, which most recently includes pickleball and his reintroduction to playing golf. When not at the office seeing patients, you can find him hooping at local basketball courts, lifting weights at the gym, exploring new hikes, and snowboarding during the winter.
